The Dewaele use the second half of their DJ set for BBC Radio 1's Christmas show (the mixes were originally recorded for Studio Brussel's Hang The DJ radio show) as their third volume under the 2 Many DJ's moniker. The mixes and mash-ups are as fun as always, but the whole set sounds a lot smoother and much less festive (at least not as consistently so) than the first two sets. There are obvious attempts at creating themes during some parts, but on the whole, the album is much less homogenous and flowing than usually. Once again, a few songs from previous sessions resurface here (Vitalic's La Rock 01 for example) with different surroundings. I say "surroundings" because these DJ sets feel like specific environments, depending on the choice of tracks and their context, some songs could be repeated, yet the results would be completely different (or perhaps I'm looking too deep into this). Party music at it's fucking best! |
