As with pretty much every single release in this series, there is much mystery surrounding the origins of these mash-up bootlegs. Apparently this is yet again part of the Dewaele brothers' Hang The DJ sessions for Studio Brussel. As much as I like the whole series yet, none of them match the excessive energy found on the only official As Heard On Radio Soulwax Part 2. There are still some incredible mash-ups here. The first five minutes simply kick-ass! Mashing The Beastie Boys' Intergalactic with Herbie Hancock's Rockit is brilliant, but to have INXS' intro to Suicide Blonde briefly surface towards the end is fucking genius! The record loses a bit of it's breath as it progresses. Some mixes simply sound out of place or are too drastic to be smooth. As much as I love Stereo Total, their version of Paradis' Joe Le Taxi sounds sadly out of place. The energy eventually comes back towards the end, making this a decent release in the series. |
