Yet another live performance by the AMT crew caught on tape. The sound quality is unfortunately pretty shit and the group's usual feverish psychedelic fireworks don't transmit as well as usual. The opening Galactic Attack No. 1 sounds like a sludge fest, but all I can hear are the sci-fi sound effects smothering the rest of the musicians. This problem is not as present on the guitar-driven Dark Stars In The Dazzling Sky, but still, as powerful as it sounds, the piece would have benefited from a better recording (I've heard bootlegs sounding better than this). Only the mellow La Le Lo comes off sounding quite crisp until the band fall off the deep end once more approximately eight minutes into the tune. The album ends with a live version of the AMT classic: Pink Lady Lemonade. It's a pretty good interpretation of their own song, but it's still far from the colossal one-hour-long version found on the AMT Family Compilation. For completists only. |
