The collective let go of their heavy psych influences here and concentrate on their folksy drone side. This is a much smoother listen than their previous albums although the ear-piercing guitar feedback does infiltrate the drones once in a while. This is the Acid Mothers as I prefer them; you can actually sit down with headphones on and get into a trance while listening to this record. No mental heavy jams here! My all-time favorite AMT track is here: She Is A Rainbow In Curved Air, at barely six minutes long, it is a short track compared to the group's standards, but this psych-folk number is so incredibly beautiful and mesmerizing that I often find myself listening to it over and over again. I never get tired of it. Acid Heart Mother is a thirty minute long jam, it is extremely slow moving but it will have you drifting out into the cosmos until the final two minute drone will irritate you back into this world. |
