Although the title would have you believe otherwise, the music on Freak is actually quite tame, balanced and kept under control. It might be noisy, but Airaksinen doesn't always throw in fifty different clashing sounds at once every two seconds (as he often seems to enjoy doing). The title does lend well to the album in that the music is incredibly weird! What exactly is going on here? Screaming, looped samples, blasts of noise separated by dark atmospheric synth drones. Parmigiana Thunk Kidnap Hadamard Intriguant Maharashtra (again with the fucked up titles) has a really nice moody atmosphere to it. Imagine yourselves Wolf Eyes covering The Residents' The Tune Of Two Cities. It shouldn't work on paper you say, but it does on record! One of the better albums by Airaksinen who proves again that he is not just a one-trick-pony.
