Airaksinen's self-proclaimed "rap" album! I fail to see how this could qualify as hip-hop though. The first track is a jazzy instrumental piece which lays down the mood of the album until the danceable beats come in on the second track. Hip-hop, however is not hip-hop without the vocals and when they do come in under the form of heavily delayed monotonous robot/computer voices (or chanting monks), you'll understand that Airaksinen, with tongue firmly in cheek, actually is making a hip-hop record here, but creating it from the inside out and annihilating it's ideals and values in the most chaotic way. Even though I can't say I find the album successful in it's pretensions, I do believe it's worth seeking out if only for the collaborative track (Robbers Of Beauty) with fellow finn and underground folk legend: Keijo Virtanen. His famous throat singing is heard in full glory on this amazing and moody song. |
