What to make of such an insane album? This is where it all began. The first available album by Amon Düül. A long, very loud and tribal jam interspersed with a few edits and samples to make it all sound slightly more dynamic. In most cases however it only manages to make everything seem stranger then it probably should!. The third track Mama Düül Und Ihre Sauerkrautband Spielt Auf is said to have been the inspiration for the word krautrock which has, since then, been applied to most of Germany's psychedelic rock exports of the time. Anyone into the louder side of Velvet Underground should do themselves a favor and check this band out. Some of it is so incredibly loud and repetitive that all that is left is a constant drone, a messy blob of sound and voices. The LP was originally released on Metronome back in 1969. |
