Wonderful slice of folk-psych weirdness and mayhem from this early ensemble of the finnish scene. The first side of this limited LP (five hundred copies) includes nine shorter tracks which range from clattering folk numbers (River Of Finland) to hyper toy piano molesting (The Bones Tell Me Nothing) to noisy mind-fucks; the last track from this side, Damnation Shakers, is twenty seconds of strident, high-pitched wails abruptly ended and resurrected into some plinks and plunks for the remaining five seconds! Go figure! The second side has more of the same spaced-out skronk-folk I Am The Drum And The World Is My Stick includes sitar playing, giving the already warped song an ethnic flavor. Run With Vishnu, the last track on this side is a little gem all by itself with it's strange slide whistle bits. |
