Love that cover. The crude lettering and images of the forest at dusk led me to believe this would be some original vision of black metal as interpreted by the NNCK roster. Well, no metal in sight, but it's quite tribal and crude. It starts off with some indian tribe drumming with one of the members laughing like that possessed chick from the first Evil Dead movie. Hmm.. Next! Ok, now we have guitars, but still no metal! And the vocals are irritating as fuck! And there are no changes throughout the song! I like repetitive and minimal music, but this is just lame. Next! Piano, cheesy lyrics; then more piano and drums, like The Shaggs but without any of the fun and all of the pretentiousness. Next! Ok, still no metal, but Adverts remains the most interesting track of the album (with America And Me), like a grrrl riot group doing a Jandek cover. Not bad, but on the whole, I'll pass! |
