It took me a while before I would get into this EP, but after a few listens, it's colors reached my ears and has delighted me ever since. Lisbon Acid is the obvious highlight of the album. Starting off with a Blue Monday-like melody, the tune rapidly drives off into more familiar AFX terrain once the addictive beat and additional melodies join in. This is easily one of the better tracks in the whole series (I love the small room reverb that comes in approximately half way into the song). Pitcard is another wonderful track which will disorient the listener with it's dizzying sounds and lush atmosphere. AFX Acid 04 sounds a bit too haphazard to these ears to be fully appreciated; it sounds like a hodgepodge of random sounds with a steady, skeletal beat to hold the wobbly composition. Worth hearing, if only for Lisbon Acid; the rest might take a few extra listens to fully enjoy. |
