This self-titled album continues where ... I Care Because You Do left off. It feels like a continuation of this album's mix of ambient, drum'n'bass and symphonic pieces. In fact opening track 4 feels like a three-in-one; you get the lovely string arrangements, insane drum arrangements and soft synth melodies. A great way to start an album. The production on these songs is absolutely mind-blowing, I have trouble simply imagining how James can come up with these sounds and arrange them in such a complex manner without losing the listener in the process. His music is addictive because of this. Give a song like To Cure A Weakling Child a few listens and sooner or later, after having scratched the surface, the song's many secrets will start to reveal themselves. And this is just one of many highlights on the album; a few songs do feel like filler, but there is not a dull moment to be found here. |
