As soon as Xtal begins playing I begin to float and fly high up into the air. This song is pure magic, the way the female vocals, ringing bells and beat all meld into one big mass of analog bliss. It is followed by the equally wonderful Tha, but it's the melody in this tune that makes my brain produce huge amounts of endorphins. Not all the tracks on this first volume of "ambient" works are as good as the first two tracks. I find Pulsewidth to be less interesting and somewhat dated. Green Calx I simply don't like at all and I usually skip it, ambient this is not. I is similar to the music found on the second (and much more) ambient collection, a sign of what was to come, no beats here. Schottkey 7th Path is another great tune of truly ambient washes of synth. Some of the other tracks are a bit too abstract for me to enjoy as ambient music, but they are still quite nice to hear in the background.
