I've been looking for this album for quite some time now (it was first released as a homemade tape and then as a double CD-R along with FF>>), so I was quite happy when it was finally released officially. Only trouble is, this is not even close to the original release, in fact it's more of a collection of songs from the previous double CD-R version, including songs from both Scared Famous and FF>>. Confusing enough? More than half the songs that were on the double CD-R are missing here. Which one you would rather have is up to you (quantity or quality). The music here sounds even more insane than on previous Ariel Pink outings. Take songs like Howling At The Moon with it's spastic yet nightmarish 80's pop musak or the quaalude-like, apathetic shoegazer nature of The List (My Favorite Song) and you've got a fair idea of just how chaotic this all is. But then again, depending on your tolerance for Pink, this is tons of fun as always. |
