Album Cover

Here's a second reissue of early material by Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti series for Paw Tracks. It's as obsessively retro and lo-fi as all of his other material but also as addictive as ever. Pink has a knack of extracting the very source of what makes a pop tune so great and use it in his own quirky way. As usual (according to me anyway), Worn Copy is one hit after another. It's simply insane (or is that genius) just how much strong material Pink manages to spew out with so little means (I'm actually totally jealous of how easy he makes it all sound - Salieri syndrome I guess). Trepanated Earth, the album's opener reminds me of Amon Düül II's Soap Shop Rock off of their Yeti album with hints of Bowie and bonus cheesy synth musak. Another favorite would be Jules Lost His Jewels which could lift any party, any time. The CD comes with an extremely low resolution (of course!) video for For Kate I Wait.
