Album Cover

After years of staying away from all things IDM (I sold hundreds of albums to finance my move to Sweden back in 2003), I decided to explore the scene once again. So when Quaristice was announced through Warp Records, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to get back on track. I was lucky enough to be able to buy this jaw-droppingly beautiful limited edition on two CDs with artwork by Designers Republic (in an etched steel casing!). I'm glad to hear the duo have managed to find a balance between their more experimental tendencies and their earlier beat-oriented albums. They will even be able to do this within one song, often breaking a tune apart after a structured and/or catchy intro. Tons of great tunes here, including personal favorites such as IO, Tankakern and the ambient Notwo. Second CD includes tons of variations of songs from the first CD. This is what Stockhausen could/should have sounded like during his later period.
