Four lengthy live documents of Avarus, playing on their home turf. The first of these is a long and slow jam (almost twenty-five minutes long!) with a very trippy feel; it's more relaxed than what I would normally expect from these noisy finns, but still very nice. Things do get louder eventually, making the Pärson Sound comparisons true once again. The next track is much weirder and is a perfect example of what the often mentioned "forest-psych" of the scene sounds like; plenty of clatter and strange instruments blend into controlled chaos (you can hear elements of Sun Ra at his most outrageous at times on this track). Side B has more of the same, but it comes off as being even more psychedelic then the first side with it's pulsing drones and screeching string instruments. Comes in a cheap-looking xeroxed cover depicting the band and an equally cheap-looking fold-out poster inside. |
