Back Off Cupids
Can't say I know much about Back Off Cupids except that it's the one-man effort of John Reis, more known as the leader of indie-rock heroes Drive Like Jehu and Rocket From The Crypt, two other bands I've heard of but never explored before. The music is like the best by Sebadoh without any vocals and some electronic touches, strange guitar riffs and sometimes complex tempo changes. I probably would never have even heard of the band if it weren't for emusic.com from whom I might have taken a bit too much advantage of their generous offer (their whole download policy has changed since then!). I was checking out all the bands on the Drunken Fish label and fell upon them, the band name turned me off, but I downloaded the songs anyway... only never to listen to them. But recently I found a copy of the CD on rebate at three bucks so I bought it, listened to it (finally!) and really liked it!
