Aidan Baker
Canada's own Merzbow/Makoto Kawabata! He might not exactly be a noise freak, but with approximately two new releases every month, Aidan Baker is easily one of the country's most prolific artists. As one half of ambient-doom outfit Nadja, Baker would already be infusing his own distinct sound to an abused and overexploited scene. It's here that the artist truly sounds original. For his solo works, Baker remains within the ambient/noise genre, creating some of the most intriguing soundscapes this side of Basinski and Hecker. Considering his massive output, it's surprising to find out that the artist rarely releases a dud. I have no plans (yet) to collect all his work, but a few more will most definitely make their way onto this page.
