Well, the raw energy and fragility found on the first album might be gone, but this does not mean that Banhart doesn't manage to make equally beautiful music. The songs on this album are much smoother then they were on Oh Me Oh My [...], gone are the loud yelps and atonal stereo voices. What you get are much more traditional folk tunes, but still originals. The idea was to recapture the intimate nature of the first recording and somehow they succeed, but the addition of a small orchestra or piano on some tracks, even though it sounds great at times, sort of breaks the spell. I don't believe there are any duds on here (as was the case with the preceding album), every single track has it's own special charm that grows on it's listeners with each spin. Songs that caught my attention were Pooughkeepsie, Will Is My Friend, Fall, which even includes percussive instruments (a first!) and Todo Los Dolores.
