Grab my hand and let's take this journey together. The monster Walking Stick Man starts things off with a bong. This is one of the rare instances where the vocals are surprisingly audible over the guitar smokescreen. Thankfully, this is only for the first track. With This Time (So Fucked), we are immediately dragged down into Boris-like stoner/doom territory as we are slowly crushed under the weight of this barrage of power chords. There is a sharp turn towards exotic new worlds on the brain-swelling Datura (I wouldn't try this drug even if you paid me) followed by the violent air strike that is Again. From then on, we alternate between weird, completely out-of-this world psychedelic exercises and full-on rock overloads. Cross Current is particularly good with it's misleading violin massacre intro and it's headphone killing second half. Not sure the right "set and setting" could change our reception of this album. Just make sure you are sitting down!
