Album Cover

If La Monte Young's work with sinewaves is too minimal and you like your drones to pack a punch, then this live album is a great place to start. There's a sense of drama to them which isn't as obvious in Young's work. Of course, this isn't music to concentrate on anyway, you want to lose yourself in it; you are at it's mercy and thankfully, even though these two tracks are quite dark and frightening, Kneale goes easy on you and avoids the aggressive tones of many of his earlier works. The second track has an incredible buzzing drone which feels like your brain is being massaged (or eaten away by angry ants, it all depends on your tolerance for this type of music). These early CD-Rs (which come in a folded wallpaper sample) from the artist's own label are extremely limited (only fifty copies each!), so don't hesitate to jump on them if you get the occasion. But stay away from those I'm missing!
