The Birchville Cat Motel equivalent of Stereolab's Switched On. This series of three double CD-Rs, of which this is the first volume, collects many of Kneale's impossible to find micro-releases (some of these were released in editions of only six!). There are only one hundred copies of each volume, so once these disappear, they will be as hard to find as the material they are supposed to make available. There are a few "hidden tracks" on the first CD-R which are supposed to be known only by the few people who actually managed to get their paws on the first editions. About the music, most of the drones here are very noisy, some even resemble the artist's future "metal" releases like Chi Vampire. Only Beautiful When You Sleep comes close to ambient drone, the rest will have you grinding your teeth. The first release in a while to come in a folded up piece of wallpaper.
