After a harsh sounding intro, September settles into a beautiful shimmering drone with hints of feedback. Ironically, there's a springtime vibe to the first quarter of the song, like hearing rays of sunshine hitting the freshly cut grass wet with dew (well, the song does have this psychedelic vibe to it too). The hour-long song does eventually get ugly again as weird, distorted vocals are looped in the background. When the drone dies out, we are left with a bunch squeaky loops like the sounds of an empty school playground (summer?). When the drone finally comes back for the last third of the song, it is much darker than before, the sounds are windy and wet like a cold fall afternoon. I wouldn't be surprised if the album was meant to be an aural interpretation of a year up until September (or maybe this is just a live recording from that month!). That would give the recording a certain extra charm.
