Album Cover

With this appropriately titled album, the world got it's first taste of what was to become the Björk-phenomenon. Debut became an overnight success, the videos to Human Behavior and Violently Happy were played on regular rotation on MTV and her name, although difficult to pronounce to westerners, became a household name. If you were hip at the time, you owned this album. She looked so innocent and fragile on the cover photography and indeed, the music within, although weird at times, had this naivety to it which is more apparent now when compared to her later albums. I've heard she is not as proud of this album anymore, but this remains a classic pop record. Songs like Human Behavior and Aeroplane still sound fresh and timeless today. You can hear hints of her work with traditional jazz (heard on the Gling-Glò album) on some of these songs (The Anchor Song).
