At least this one is a bit better then it's predecessor, but still, this was the end of the road for one of the most influential groups of all time. Almost as a tradition, the album opens up with the most easily recognizable guitar riff of the whole album (or am I mixing this up with Sweet's Ballroom Blitz?). Basically, the gloom was now dead, and the cock-rock lived on! Johnny Blade has another great riff if you can get past the lame synth noises. Besides these two songs, the rest of the album just doesn't do it for me (Breakout!! Yuck!). If this album and Technical Ecstasy wouldn't have been included in this box set I own, I probably wouldn't have complained, but since both are albums from the "Ozzy"-era of Black Sabbath, they are a nice addition to my collection. But this is really a case of "looking good" on the shelf versus usefulness. |
