This is the album that made me fall in love with Blonde Redhead all over again. The last time we were acquainted was after the lackluster Fake Can Be Just As Good; I still had much respect for them, but I didn't feel as if we were heading in the same direction. Flash forward a few years, I've completely lost contact with what they were doing and I decide to just check in after the release of Misery Is A Butterfly ("What a pretentious title!" I thought) by clicking on a few excerpts on Aquarius Records' weekly list. The opening riff of Elephant Woman loads into my iTunes and in a matter of a few seconds, I'm hooked. To make sure, I downloaded the complete album and it basically became the soundtrack to my life for the next couple of weeks. What a huge leap in the group's discography; new instruments join in the fun, the resulting sound is fuller, richer and turn these eleven tracks into pure bliss. This is easily my favorite Blonde Redhead record yet. |
