This "single" come EP (it seems to center around Dayvan Cowboy, one of the better tunes off of The Campfire Headphase) finds the scottish duo in incredible form. They let go of the cheesy homemade guitar samples which disappointed me on the album and concentrate on good ol' melody and mood. This is their strongest effort since In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country (rumor has it, these are leftovers from the Geogaddi sessions). Left Side Drive is a beautiful song; the thick and dirty melody feels like a breeze of fresh air on a hot summer day. An automatic daydream inducer. If you ordered your copy before June 6th, 2006 (get it?) like I have, you also get a DVD which includes the Dayvan Cowboy music video. The video combines footage of the Joseph Kittinger space jump with some faceless (à la Music Has The Right) surfer footage. Fun, but not as inspiring as people seem to think. |
