The Boredoms remix The Mekons, or should I say reinvent? Although based on the song Where Were You? by the british punk rockers, the different versions found on Super Roots 7 are complete makeovers with strong motorik/krautrock touches. Imagine yourselves an incredibly noisy and heavier version of early Stereolab and you've got yourselves a good idea of what this stuff is all about (the third track could have been included on Emperor Tomato Ketchup!). Although it includes only three tracks, there's plenty to enjoy here and it's probably accessible enough to convince a few newcomers that the Boredoms' aren't just about noise. This seventh installment in the series is without a doubt one of the most "musical" of the bunch, that it to say it doesn't constantly attack your ears like the third and fifth entries do, although there are a few instances of incredibly high pitched sinewaves on the Boriginal version. |
