Never thought I'd ever hear Boredoms sounding this way! Going from a totally off-the-wall punk-noise act to a psychedelic monster rock band, it was only a matter of time before they would try themselves out at composing and Super Roots #9 is pretty much exactly that! Boredoms are renowned for their eclectic approach to music and sound, so this wasn't a total surprise, but it's quite different from most of their output. Using a choir of twenty-four with drums, odd percussion and synthesizers; Boredoms have created one of the most bizarre rock symphonies I've ever heard. Imagine Philip Glass on a ravaging PCP trip and you've got a fair idea of what to expect during these forty minutes. The same themes are visited over and over again, shifting from the choir to the repetitive, krautrock-like drum patterns to a full-on wall of sound, this is one of the most trance-inducing works I've heard from the band in ages. Different but worthwhile.
