For all of you who think Boris have gone soft on us with their last few releases and forgot about their roots in doom should consider these three live volumes a godsend. Volume One sounds fucking ugly, and when I say "ugly" I mean i've-been-sitting-in-the-bath-so-long-my-body-has-dissolved-and-turned-into-goo-ugly!!! Listening to the opening Huge is like hearing the original (from Amplifier Worship) after it's been doused in sulfuric acid, tenderized and then crammed down the garbage disposal along with a fork. How's that for doom!? The sound quality isn't always all that great, the bass is sometimes quite low, but I guess this gives the songs a certain demo/garage feel which fits. Another great thing about this album is that it contains a few songs not available anywhere else, like the incredible Scar Box which is the aural equivalent of sniffing powdered detergent, you'll feel cleansed.
