Don't know the slightest thing about Choukoku No Niwa which use up half of this split release, but I must say I would love to hear more from them. The twenty-four minute Fukurou is monolithic hodgepodge of tribal folk music, bass-heavy krautrock-ish jams and "rawk" vocals. I was often reminded of Michael Mooney-era Can throughout the track. Boris on the other hand are in complete "drone" mode throughout the fourteen minute first half of Kanau. Those of you who miss the band's Absolutego sludgedom should absolutely hunt this CD down. When the second half of the song begins, the chaotic metal beast is finally unleashed and it certainly kicks ass. It's also one of their most Melvins-esque tunes to date and could easily have been included on Houdini without anyone ever noticing (well, maybe the japanese lyrics might have raised a few eyebrows). More Echoes was first released back in 1999, but this version is the later, remastered version. A must!
