Now we're talking! After Flood, a somewhat lame "concept" album, Boris are back in shape and have cranked up their amps once again. It might not be as slow and bleak as Absolutego, but it's definitely more like their incredible Amplifier Worship with speedy, Motörhead-like inclinations. There's also a retro feel to the riffs here, like Blue Cheer or Saint-Vitus at times. No guttural vocals here either, cuz it's not about the doom here my friend, it's about the boom! Nice! Highlights include Heavy Friends, the opening track, Rattlesnake which has such a great riff, it has to be heard to be believed and 1970, the last track. This is high energy, feet-tapping, head-banging stuff (except for the mellow Soft Edge). Get ready to mosh alone in your living room if you decide to blast this through your stereo speakers! Definitely worth the import price! |
