Boris' are still quite heavy, but there's so much focus on emotions and melody now. Listening to Farewell is like listening to the most syrupy Sigur Ros track on steroids, the guitars are heavy as hell, but the plaintive vocals get on my nerves. I wouldn't be surprised if one day we'd hear this track on some teen TV-drama show. It's not bad, it's just very thick in the sugar-coating department. Thankfully, few songs on here sound like it, already on the title track we are confronted by the same high-octane heavy rocking of well... Heavy Rocks and most of the songs are in the same vein. It's also good to hear that Boris are still out there to shock you as with the "in-the-purple" volume level of Nothing Special or Blackout, which is the closest thing to a doom track they've composed in a long time. The Southern Lord edition features ten extra minutes of music, so I got rid of my japanese version.
