Never thought I'd ever hear Boris covering The Beatles and much less have noise freak Merzbow participate on the project (this is their fourth collaboration together), yet this is exactly what you get on one side of this EP. It's actually quite faithful to the original I Am The Walrus with the music sounding slightly sloppier and heavier with tons of not-too-irritating noise in the background. A huge rethinking of the psychedelic hit this ain't. Interesting, but nothing to get overly excited about. It's with Groon however, the second side, that we fall back into familiar territory. Tribal drums, droning and distorted noise under tons of effects and fucked up samples. Two tracks, less than fifteen minutes of music. Very limited as always, but not a big loss for those who miss out (well actually, the artwork by Fangs Anal Satan is absolutely stunning). Comes in a number of different splattered colors and black. Mine is yellow/green like the cover. |
