It took four years and the impulse purchase of Celestial Ocean to convince me to get this album although I had heard and liked it when I first heard it during my krautrock phase. This album has LSD and late sixties written all over it: the imagery, the cryptic themes, the fuzzed-out-beyond-belief guitar solos, the sexy-but-confusing female vocals and the funky electronic organ drowned in effects, it's all about being free, man! Oh man I got the munchies!. It might not be my favorite album, but it does contain one of my favorite songs by the group. The three part title track really makes me feel like throwing a sexy party and getting down and dirty with body paint. That phasing, staccato organ riff really gets my head bobbing every time (although I do tend to frown when I hear that guy brushing his teeth in the background). An odd and somewhat dated release, but a must nonetheless. |
