After the all-out attack on the senses that was Cottonwoodhill, Brainticket decide to indulge themselves in their progrock tendencies. There are even some hippy-folk moments here and there, but the psychedelic vibe is still going strong. I hear some Amon Düül II influences here and there (Watchin' You sounds remarkably like a passage from Soap Shop Rock off of Yeti). Some say this album is the group's weakest effort; even though it might not sound as inspired as the two albums it is sandwiched in between, this remains a superior album to much of what was released at the time. I personally prefer listening to this than their debut; the songs here are much more varied and it simply sounds more playful (and less weird for the sake of weird). The CD is practically as rare as the LP these days and it usually goes for relatively high amounts of money on auction sites and marketplaces. |
