This was the Butthole Surfers' last album for Touch & Go, they were to do one more album worthy of their name before succumbing to commercial hell. I am still unsure as to how the track names have become official as there are none listed on the album cover (instead, each song has a crude, often obscene drawing to designate it). Jimi is easily the album's best song. The manipulated voices give it a disturbing edge, and from what I can make of the lyrics, it's probably even worse then I think it is (you just got to love that pleasant little outro to the song, with it's bowling pins and barnyard animals). I Saw An X-Ray Of A Girl Passing Gas is another classic in my book (how many car trips I've done listening to this particular song!) and let's not forget John E. Smokes which recounts the story of the title character, a little crippled midget lesbian boy who stood ten foot tall with a knife! |
