Locust Abortion Technician is often considered to be the Butthole Surfers greatest achievement and I have to agree; it possesses all the different faces the group has shown during their career: the crude humor, the noisy, gritty tunes, the weirder, more psychedelic ones and the general will to confuse. Not a single miss on this one, from the "cover" version of Black Sabbath's Sweet Leaf to the tape manipulations of Kuntz (this one makes me laugh out loud every time as they scandalously violate a popular hindu tune) via the grinding sludge that is U.S.S.A.. There's even a truly very heavy blues number titled Pittsburg To Lebanon which'll have you reach for the bourbon! The perfect album to start with if you've never heard Butthole Surfers before; if you don't like this, then you won't like the rest (well, you might like the later, more commercial releases).
