Really funky and psychedelic beginning with Pinch on this, my favorite album by Can. Damo is once again mumbling away as he sings so it's only possible to catch a few words. Sing Swan Song is a great, smooth number with acoustic guitar and plenty of background noises to distract. Vitamin C has a really nice beat and cool chorus. Only one head-scratcher on this album compared to two or three on Tago Mago). Soup starts with plenty of electronic shimmering sounds with Damo ranting over everything. A song actually builds up during the next few minutes, pretty heavy too actually, but at around four minutes into the song, things start breaking apart and one and a half minute later you get the most troubling low-rumble synth noise with weird guitar sounds and Damo going nuts. Brain melting stuff! It's followed by the lovely funkiness of I'm So Green and the classic Spoon. |
