Damo fell in love and, being the wild child that he was, adopted his new girl's faith and became a Jehova's Witness. Damo leaves Can. Thankfully, the driving force behind these krautrock legends' music was never the singer; and so, vocal duties were taken on by guitarist Michael Karoli and, not surprisingly, the results remain quite good. I personally prefer this album to Future Days which is often highly regarded by fans and critics alike. There is just something strange, dark and spaced-out about it which I really enjoy. Come Sta, La Luna has psychedelic underwater vocals and creepy synth work while the title is sung. There's a great droning bit at six minutes into Chain Reaction, it only last about thirty seconds, but it sounds amazing. Quantum Physics finds the group reaching even further out into the ether as drones and bass-harmonics create a minimal journey towards deep space. |
