These songs were recorded during the Joy Shapes sessions and they are some of the noisiest, most out-there tunes I've yet to hear from the band (they were still a trio during this recording). They even surpass some of the tracks off of the two first Kranky releases when it comes to eccentricities! The three part title track is definitely one of the most psychedelic songs by the trio. The long drawn out vocal "ohs" and "ahs" are very present throughout as they alternate between soft whispers to ear-piercing shrieks. The ubiquitous delay effects also add to the overall confusion of these numbers. The twenty minute long Holy Electric is my personal favorite from the album, I don't believe anyone has ever succeeded in making the guitar sound so alien as it does here. Not a single weak track in sight here. Even Drowning Night is memorable for it's creepy seventies horror flick qualities (film director Dario Argento should hire them for his next soundtrack).
