Album Cover

The mother of all psych-folk records. First Utterance has stood the test of time and still sounds as devastating today as it did back when it came out. Of course the music on the album is way too bizarre and disturbing and predictably, it has been lost for the longest of time, revered only by the few who were lucky enough to have heard it. But years of spreading the good word has paid off as the record has seen a recent boost in popularity. There is something very dark and scary hidden deep within this work. The female vocals are incredibly sweet and keep you entranced... but Comus is not afraid to rear it's ugly head. But this is what makes this album so powerful; like reading a frightening fairy tale as a child. Very captivating for those who are willing to let themselves by dragged (then drawn and quartered) into the group's realm. Although the sound seems to be inferior to the Victor edition I owned, this version includes a 3"CD of the Diana single and an extra track!
