I have listened to this album so many times I am surprised it isn't all worn out. This is my absolute favorite album by Connors and even though he's made many great albums before and since, none of them can even compare to this one. I would have to agree with a comment I've read which says this is the solo guitar album that makes you want to go out and kill other solo guitar artists. Everything else will seem vain and empty after having experienced Airs. I've compared Connors to Satie in another review, but it is with this album that I can confirm my theory that the two share the gift of conjuring up so many emotions with a simple musical phrasing. This album sounds so incredibly fragile that you get the impression it could fall apart would a simple gentle breeze disturb it's course. There are really no words to describe how gorgeous this music is, you'll just have to experience it for yourselves. Shh... |
