The Bridge is one single half-hour long song which displays Connors' experimental leanings as he delves into soundscapes. The guitar work is very sparse and drowned in reverb with distorted drones swelling up as the song progresses. Although on the noisy side, the results are much more interesting than the bleaker Calloden Harvest. The reverb and crashing sounds really give a wet, "rainy day" hue to the recording. You can almost picture the cars and trucks as they speed their way across the fictitious bridge, the wheels sometimes hitting a puddle, splashing everything around. It's actually quite incredible how successful the album is in conjuring up these images through simple sounds (and definitely more interesting than hearing the real thing). I wouldn't suggest it to people who are new to Connors' work; it's a great album, but also a difficult one which demands repeated listening to appreciate.
