Album Cover

With a title like this, and knowing how this artist's work tends to lean towards the dark side, you'd think Connors would have come up with the be-all and end-all of depressing noise albums, and indeed, the first few tracks would seem to confirm that theory, but things eventually settle down and a peaceful atmosphere infiltrates the album. The cover art depicts what seems to be a subway so I am inclined to believe that the "hell" invoked in the title refers to the stress, the bleakness, the depression inherent in a big city lifestyle. If this is the case, then the album seems to be an aural depiction of the individual's struggle in this environment, from the first unbearable moments that come with stress and depression (the first few tracks) to a slow but steady acceptance or abandon (death?) in the face of the city as the last few track's tranquil atmosphere would seem to indicate. Connors most underrated album.
