An early record played entirely on the electric guitar. After a few short numbers bearing his patented fragile bluesy sound, Connors decides to plug in his effects pedals and decides to make his gloomy music even gloomier. 10th Avenue sounds like music to slice your wrists to. Poverty and misery are recurring themes in the artist's huge body of work and this track seems to be the soundtrack to this poor, unemployed drunk's night of self-loathing in his/her one-room apartment.Out There is a similar song, but the mood is even darker and much noisier so don't listen to this if you are in a depressed state of mind! The sound on the album is slightly muffled yet again (I get the feeling the highs are turned off completely when Connors records his playing). Even with the noisier songs however, Hell's Kitchen Park remains a soothing and pleasant album which is definitely worth finding. |
