Album Cover

It's only after purchasing this four CD box set that I realized why one reviewer said it was better to purchase The Daggett Years album (which compiles a few excerpts from this set). This is Connors' most difficult music to date. I'm usually one to love challenging music (and part of me actually enjoys listening to these albums), but when comparing to future work, this becomes a simple curiosity, a document of the artist's evolution. Just put any of these on your stereo and you've heard pretty much everything the set has to offer. This sounds like a schizophrenic patient recording in his closet while trying to drown "those awful-awful voices" with his chanting. I would probably love this if Connors would still sound this way, but he went on to prove he has real talent with six strings. The only music that makes Jandek sound like Malmsteen in comparison (this will probably please many of the texan's fans).
