Helge Sten, aka Deathprod, is barely in his thirties, but already there is a retrospective box with his work; and that is just for one of his projects, he is also a member of avant-jazz group Supersilent, he has collaborated with Motorpsycho, Biosphere and Food! Deathprod shows the darker side of this man's artistic endeavors, his soundscapes consist of moody drones, sounds processed beyond recognition and strange artificially aged recordings. I really have to thank Aquarius Records for making me discover this, if it wasn't for the track samples they offer on their site, I would probably never have heard of this artist. I remember hearing these strange drones in my headphones for the first time, being completely mesmerized. This was exactly what I had been trying to achieve with my own musical creations. I believe it took under a minute before I ordered the box set (even though my budget did not really permit it at the time!). Mind-blowing stuff, even though it is quite difficult music at times.
