I am not sure if the first track, Krautrock, is meant to be a joke about Faust's (reluctant?) categorization within that genre. Regardless if it is or not, it sure sounds like pure krautrock (and kosmischemusik and motorik) to these ears. A long, repetitive, droning, instrumental, psychedelic improvised jam session. It's the album's best track and it has practically become an icon of what the genre is supposed to sound like! The second track, The Sad Skinhead is completely different and is probably the only ska-like track by the band. Faust immediately go back to their psychedelic ethics with Jennifer. The song is beautiful and meditative until about four minutes into the song when things start getting out-of-control. Just A Second could have been included on the soundtrack to the René Laloux film Fantastic Planet. Another highlight is the incredibly beautiful Giggy Smile, one of my favorite songs by Faust.
