This collaborative effort between Tony Conrad and Faust sounds like the perfect cross between a rock track and drone. It sounds like a slowed down version of Faust's It's A Rainy Day, Sunshine Girl taken from So Far with the guitars replaced by Conrad's violin drones. The layers of strings slowly build up throughout the twenty-seven minutes of From The Side Of Man and Womankind while the drums play the part of a metronome. From The Side Of The Machine is slightly similar, different drum pattern, more droning strings, bass and a distorted hiss. It is much more abrasive than the first track. This 30th anniversary edition comes in a beautiful cardboard box with silver text and it contains a second disc of music. This disc contains two much shorter drone-rock tracks and a "complete" version of From The Side Of Man And Womankind titled From The Side Of Woman And Mankind.
